If your ancestors migrated to North America, in the 1800's, chances are someone in your family tree may have served in the Civil War. Usually if they were born prior to 1850, there is a good chance.
The ideal age between 18 to 25, which would bring their year of birth as 1836 to 1842. Several men were much older or were serving in the state militia's or prior military in the mid-late 1820's, and having their age in the 30's or 40's.
The chance that your family may have migrated from another county, is very great. The influx of Irish, Scot and German, was very common.
We are always happy to help others find their Civil War Ancestors.
Sometimes it is just to varify a family line, or to do a simple look of a family member who may have serve, or a known regiment.
All we need is a full name of the person, birth date and death, and burial place is very helpful, so we can be accurate in finding the right soldier whom was part of your fimily line.
Often, the easy lookup turns out to be a project, and very extensive.
When we have to go that route, it becomes time consuming, and we have to ask for a fee or a donation, to seek out the neccessary information that you are seeking.
This information can be very useful, when applying for membership with either the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War or the Daughters of Union Veterans (or any other descendants group).
